SF: What does the colour yellow mean to you?

Great topic Michelle, and as I look around me here in my creative space...I must say I don't see any yellow (scream!). Quite sad almost. So this made me think... the last time I really worked with yellow was when I painted my yellow Sparklebirds and when I made this painting here and not to forget about my yellow elephant.
Yellow is such a happy and optimistic colour shining bright like the sun and I love it especially a creamy soft yellow, it reminds me of lemons as well (in German we always say when biting into a lemon: 'Sauer macht lustig.' meaning something like 'sour makes you laugh/funny'.) My colour palette I'm using has changed over the past year and I have worked with softer and more natural hues. I guess yellow doesn't quite fit into it. Our wall colours are soft natural tones as well so a yellow painting would hurt a bit in the eyes. I want to change this though and try to work a bit more with yellow just for the fun of it, I may just make a few more yellow birds. Due to the weather here on the rainy West Coast (it must rain more here than it does in Britain, every year I'm stunned about the amounts of rain day in and out for months on end) one can always use bright colours to fight SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)! Cheers!!

I found the same thing. Yellow is such a cheery, happy color but I rarely use it in my art! I LOVE your birds and elephant. I'm also going to incorporate more yellow into my art and my world! Cheers!

You should make some yellow birds just for yourself Tine, and remember the soul you infuse in them. I cherish my celebration birdies every time I wear them or even merely see them in my jewelry box.

Another one that rarely uses yellow despite the cheerful feelings associated with it. Wonder why this has been a color I have overlooked in my creating?

Hi Tine! Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while, but times were busy here. We moved into our new house and now waiting for the baby to come. I just saw all your beautiful new art and it's so awesome! Keep on going, I hope I will get my creative energy back soon, right now I'm so exhausted from being pregnant and all.....talk to you soon! Have a nice weekend, Anke ;)
