SF: INSPIRING DREAM STUDIO

98805-638999-thumbnail.jpgI treated myself to this beautiful book a few weeks ago. It had been on my 'list of books' for quite a while. Just Carolyn Westbrook's studio which is the one you see here on the cover of the book has me in such awe that I can't even express into any words other than just 'Wow.' Inside the book one page is more beautiful and amazing than the other. Those are some of the most magnificent and inspiring studio spaces I have ever seen.

Since our move I don't have the luxury of a studio anymore. I miss it a lot, my space. If it came to my dream studio it would be located directly under the roof with slanted walls. I still miss my old apartment from Hamburg/Germany which was  exactly that. Homesickness still comes and goes for me.
One thing I have in the plans  as far as my studio space goes which is now reduced to only my desk:  a new desk for myself. So far practical had to be key and my sturdy banquet table is great for that and also for the move to just fold it up and off you go. I can have paint splatters on it and it doesn't matter. It's a dark brown wood imitation which looks all right. But then maybe beauty will be key on some point and the imitation will be replaced by a real wooden one... ahhhh, dreams...

In the end of the day though I think that the true key is to make do with what you have to create what you want. After all it fuels your creativity even more in all kinds of directions. Now though, if there was a little fairy asking me if I would want the studio of my dreams just by waving her wand? Yes, I would want it.

Oh, where's that faerie? I want her to wave her wand for me as well.
That book looks awsome, I'd love to have a look at it.

Maybe I shouldn't limit my views to just the internet, I love books of the trade but find I don't ever really go to them as often as I would like. I should really start and see more options out there for studios. I still like my space but you're right, work with what you have as the point it to simply create and do the best you can with what you have!
